Colour accuracy is one of the most important things in the design and production of custom socks. But computers, mobile screens or printing can't accurately show the right colours which clients’ request, that’s cause some misunderstandings. We spend a lot of time to discuss with customers on colours modification, finally, we feel it is necessary to set a colour standard to avoid this problem and speed up the Sock design/customization process.
There are many standards of color, PANTONE, RAL, NCS, DIC, Scotdic, Munsell, etc. We use our more than ten years’ experience to conclude that more people take PANTONE as the color standard in socks design, and Pantone TCX is specialized in the cotton textile industry to restore the effect of different colors on cotton materials better. Follow our steps to turn the color of your socks’ into Pantone TCX.
You have three ways to find the Pantone tcx:
- Purchase the FHIC200 Cotton Passport.
- Purchase PC software of Pantone Color Manager.
- Use the online official free color tool.
Among these three, the first one is the most accurate one, and both the second and third one requires a better computer screen.
1 Purchase FHIC200 Cotton Passport
You can purchase it at https://www.pantone.com/products/fashion-home-interiors/cotton-passport or buy it directly at your local agent.
It's very simple to use, you only need to find the right color and then write down its number like "18-1658 TCX". If you want to use that color for computer designing software, please refer to the second step to use "Pantone Color Management," or the third step of the online color tool.
As it is not 100% of color accuracy, whether it's a computer display or other screens, I suggest using the FHIC200 Cotton Passport to calibrate colors,
2 Purchase PC Software Pantone Color Manager
Pantone Color Manager is mainly used to find Pantone tcx colors and then use in the design of Adobe®, Corel®. Now it can provide more than 10,000 Pantone colors, but Pantone tcx is only 2,310. If you purchase Cotton Passport, the Pantone Color Manager software will be given for free, if not, you will need to purchase it here.
3 Use the official free online color tool
You can use Pantone's online color tools to find or match colors, but please note that this is not 100% accurate, which is related to the color of your screen.
First visit the online tool's website: https://www.pantone.com/color-finder
You can see here that Pantone offers us three ways to find the colour of the pick, search, convert, which is very easy to use.
Now choose the method of finding colors from pick, search, and convert
Pick: You can filter the color through the top or right filtering method until you find the right color. And choose the option of “FHI Cotton TCX” for Pantone Book, as it is designed for textile industry and is also suitable for socks.
Search: Quickly find colors by searching, before that you need to know what color you want, like "red," "treasure blue." Remember that you still need to turn down and find the label of FHI Cotton TCX, which is the color we need.
Convert: Select colors via color code or swatch, and the color code can work in sRGB, Hex, CMYK. If you have used designing software, these are not unfamiliar to you. Usually, this method is used in the condition that you’ve already known the color code of your socks’ design, and you need to find the matching/similar pantone tcx colors. Also, make sure the “FHI Cotton TCX” is selected for the Pantone Book before you click on the search.
When you find the color, you can see the color number directly.
When you want to view more colors’ information, you can directly click on the corresponding color details, code of RGB, HEX/HTML, CMYK, or even purchase the Cotton SMART Color Swatch Card to confirm the color again.
Finally: We will compare the color of our socks’ yarns according to your Pantone tcx color number, choose the most matching raw materials, thank you for reading carefully, if you need more help, you may read these articles:
